The company was founded in 2005 by Larry Dorie (CEO) and Dr.
John Mao (CTO). The product development started in 2003 by Dr.
John Mao. Initially the product was to address the difficult
firewall traversal issue in web conferencing. Soon the two
founders found that the market needed an appliance solution to facilitate deployment, improve security and
eliminate
monthly subscription costs to end users. After several rounds of
trials and errors, they settled down the hardware selection ---
an embedded Linux-based communication device, which is not only
reliable and cost effective but also consumes only less than 4.5
watts
power. As soon as the product was shipped to the market, it was
recognized by a leading magazine, CRN, as one of "2007
Tech Innovators Finalists".
Later in 2007, the product
evolved to 6-in-1 by delivering 4 applications in one appliance: web conferencing,
webinar,
remote support and remote access.
In the same year, RHUB invented guaranteed attendance
technology, which requires no download of any kind. The
technology ensures an attendee using a browser to join a
meeting from different platforms including Windows, Mac, Linux,
Unix and iPhone as long as the attendee can browse Internet. It
effectively resolves the most difficult issue in web
conferencing --- attendance failure due to firewall blocking,
lockdown computers not allowing installation of any software,
operating system incompatibility, etc.
In 2008,
the company started to offer integrated free audio conferencing
services.
In 2009, the company released V4.0, which rewrote the
underlying screen capture engine and introduced new compression
algorithms. V4.0 significantly improves the system performance
and image quality. Together with V4.0, a webcam video function
was introduced. |
